2C Psychedelics

A novice user will perhaps prefer 5 or 7 mg to really take the time to get used to this substance. Little is known about how the totality of its effects are produced, 2C-B-FLY’s psychedelic effects are believed to come from its efficacy at the 5-HT2A receptor as a partial agonist. However, the role of these interactions and how they result in the psychedelic experience remains subject to on-going scientific investigation. Remember that most of the substances on this list are considered research chemicals — which means they lack crucial scientific research to prove them safe for human consumption.

  • In terms of potency, 2C-B-FLY is roughly 10 times as potent as mescaline.
  • Even if you’re ordering from a “reputable” vendor, you should always verify the substance you have before you take it.
  • As with other serotonergic psychedelic, 2C-B is considered to be non-addictive with a low potential for abuse.
  • Its fully aromatic benzodifuran rings are thought to enhance the binding capacity of the molecule compared to the basic 2C-B molecule.
  • The effects of 2C-I are moderately visual and entactogenic — facilitating a deeper sense of connection with others.
  • Shulgin himself tested over 60 of these substances without any serious reactions reported.

The threshold is reported around 5 mg, and the standard psychoactive dose is between 10 and 25 mg. Meditation is easy to engage in under the effects of 2C-B-FLY, and as we often hear that psychedelics replace years of therapy, meditating under trip is for me like meditating for a very long time in experiences of epiphanies and deep realization. Moreover, if it exists, we still don’t know the lethal dose of this molecule. As a little anecdote, a friend of mine mistakenly took an non-premeditated high dose of 2C-B-FLY. The experience he had was nothing like the ones I had in the 30-40mg range.

The key features of 2C-B-FLY include:

Exposing compounds to the reagents gives a colour change which is indicative of the compound under test. As the public interest in psychedelics continues to grow, more obscure psychedelics like 2C-B-FLY are likely to garner more attention in the coming years. 2C-B-FLY has also been found to interact with the 5-HT1D, 5-HT1E, 5-HT1A, 5-HT2B, and 5-HT2C receptors. All of this is what serves to induce what we know as the psychedelic experience.

Multi-sensory effects

Most 2C compounds have an NBOMe version, including NBOMe-mescaline, 25B-NBOMe, 25C-NBOMe, 25H-NBOMe, 25I-NBOME, and so on (there are dozens of them). It’s hard to make and doesn’t produce nearly as potent psychedelia as most of the other 2C substances. An even stronger relative, Bromo-DRAGONFLY, also exists, but there’s very little information about this substance in the online literature. There are dozens of other 2C compounds that have already been “discovered” but lack enough testing to provide much context about how they feel or what the threshold dose looks like. The threshold dose of this substance is reported by Tranchsel to be around 25 mg and last approximately 5 hours.

However, the role of these interactions and how they result in the psychedelic experience continues to remain elusive. In a 2007 MAPS newsletter interview, Ann Shulgin revealed that 2C-B-FLY as one of her 2c b fly favorite psychedelic substances while also acknowledging the high variability in responses it seemed to display. In August 2007, 2C-B, along with many other psychologically active substances,62 was added to Ley 20.000, known as the Ley de Drogas es. In Belgium, 2C-B is a controlled substance making production, distribution, and possession illegal. 2C-B is controlled in Australia and on the list of substances subject to import and export controls (Appendix B).

What Are 2C Psychedelics?

2C-B was first synthesized and tested for psychoactivity in 1974 by the American chemist and psychedelic researcher Alexander Shulgin, who was investigating novel psychedelic compounds based on the chemical structure of mescaline. Psychedelic Research Chemicals or RC Chems are new synthetic substances which are structurally similar to the original drug, while being functional analogs. Data on their effects limited due as they’re fairly new and do not have a lot of human consumption history. In theory, dihydrodifuran analogues of any of the 2Cx / DOx family of drugs could be made, and would be expected to show similar activity to the parent compound. So in the same way that 2C-B-FLY is the dihydrodifuran analogue of 2C-B, the 8-iodo equivalent 2C-I-FLY would be the dihydrodifuran analogue of 2C-I, and the 8-methyl equivalent 2C-M-FLY would be the dihydrodifuran analogue of 2C-D.

Some compounds substitute thiophene, pyridine, furan, tetrahydrofuran, benzodioxole, or naphthalene instead. There are a variety of 2C substances that have been dihydrodifuranated. Many of these compounds are considered to be more potent than the original 2C substance they were derived from. Like most other 2C compounds, the effects are euphoric and stimulating in lower doses and intensely psychedelic in higher doses. The effects of 2C-I are moderately visual and entactogenic — facilitating a deeper sense of connection with others. The catch is that the height of the experience tends to be stronger than other 2C substances.

(PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, NOT RECOMMENDATIONS)

It also affects your 5-HT2C receptors. With that said, the only way to truly know what this psychedelic does to your brain is to try it yourself. Tolerance to the effects of 2C-B-FLY is built almost immediately after ingestion. After that, it takes about 3 days for the tolerance to be reduced to half and 7 days to be back at baseline (in the absence of further consumption). 2C-B-FLY presents cross-tolerance with all psychedelics, meaning that after the consumption of 2C-B-FLY all psychedelics will have a reduced effect.

History and culture

2C-B, or 2,5-dimethoxy-4-bromophenethylamine, is a substituted phenethylamine. Substituted phenethylamines are a chemical class of organic compounds that are based upon the phenethylamine structure, a phenyl ring bound to an amino (NH2) group through an ethyl chain. 2C-B possesses methoxy functional groups CH3O- attached to carbons R2 and R5 as well as a bromine atom attached to carbon R4 of the phenyl ring. Both compounds share the same phenethylamine base structure but have entirely different functional groups.

The most common dose is between 10 and 15mg, although some heavy users of  2C-B-FLY may take 20mg or more. Two deaths occurred in 2009 when people overdosed on 2C-B-FLY, so be careful with how much you take. In Canada, 2C-B-FLY is considered a Schedule III substance — which refers to substances that can only legally be sold in pharmacies. You’re very unlikely to find 2C-B-FLY in a pharmacy, however — so the only place o buy it is on the black market.

With that said, some 2C compounds are very potent and can produce nasty side effects if too much is taken. Many members of this family produce uncomfortable body load if too much is taken at once. This can involve feelings of nausea, cramping, muscle tension, and abdominal pain lasting anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. It was tested by Shulgin, but there hasn’t been much information published on this compound since then, and it’s notoriously difficult to find. The effects are reported to be stimulating like amphetamines and very long-lasting compared to other 2C substances.

If you stick to the recommended doses, it’s unlikely for there to be any serious side effects. These deaths are a strong reminder that it’s essential that you test your substances before you take them and to make sure you fully understand the dosages of the substance you’re using — especially for compounds that don’t have a lot of scientific studies. In terms of potency, 2C-B-FLY is roughly 10 times as potent as mescaline. A psychoactive dose of 2C-B-FLY is roughly 20 mg, while the psychoactive dose of pure mescaline is closer to 200 mg. With 10 mg, we are dealing with an experience without too many visuals, with a lot of colors, offering a certain body heat and being able to be managed by the majority of people.

I strive to provide my readers with the most accurate and up-to-date information on microdosing, psychedelic philosophy, and consciousness exploration. The Internet was full of 2CB Fly (sic), and people were asking about it and I thought “uh-oh.” It turned out that it’s a disappointment to most other people. Psychedelic phenethylamine that is the dihydrodifuran analog of 2C-B. 2C-B-FLY is unscheduled and uncontrolled in the United States, but possession and sales of 2C-B-FLY could probably be prosecuted under the Federal Analog Act because of its structural similarities to 2C-B. The full name of the chemical is 2-(8-bromo-2,3,6,7-tetrahydrofuro2,3-f1benzofuran-4-yl)ethanamine. In Spain, 2C-B was added to Category 2 prohibited substances in 2002.

It could be seen as a kind of 2C-B which lasts longer, which offers a clearer and calmer mindset, and which is more focused on physical sensations than on visuals after all. 2C-B-FLY includes visual effects with eyes open, which are generally described as wavering, transforming. In addition, vivid mental images or visions (as opposed to visuals) may be experienced with the eyes closed. 2C-B-FLY is a psychedelic substance of the of the phenethylamine and benzodihydrodifuran classes.

A lot of this comes from the fact that its effects can change depending on the dose you’re using. The mixture with the LSD was very interesting, the first times I added 25 to 50 ug just before taking the 2C-B-FLY at an average dosage of 10 mg. Surprisingly LSD will give the visuals a touch of precision, as if the world was cut with a razor, everything is precise, sharp, the mindset also goes much further. This mixture allows to reach the deep and a bit chaotic psychedelism of the acid, while remaining quite stable with the 2C-B-FLY which gives us this empathy to dive quietly. It is a very practical molecule for exploring the arts, I found myself writing poetry and lyrics for hours inspired by a single 10mg dose.

Some are more visual, some more tactile, and some more emotional or introspective in nature. Much like 2C compounds, the most prominent 3C substances were discovered by Alexander Shulgin. There’s no current push toward legalizing this family of substances anytime soon. It’s also relatively common to experience a bit of a hangover the following day, especially with higher doses.
